Account Notes

Command: /nickserv addnote <nick|*account> <duration> <note here>

Account notes should be used in the following situations:

• When you warn/shun/kill/gline a user. This includes harassment and advertising. In the case of advertising, if the user owns the channel that is being advertised then you should also set a staff note for the channel. NOTE: These types of notes should generally last for at least 1 month (1M).

• When you suspect a user of suspicious activity.

• Whenever you suspend an account. In this case, you should set two notes. One of these notes should let the rest of staff know when it expires and should be set to expire when the suspension does. The second note should be left on longer than the first note, so we can keep a history on this user.

To view a note you can use /nickserv notes <nick|*account>. Notes also show when you accountinfo them, but please do not use accountinfo just to view account notes.

Please Note

+h staff can not remove notes. Make sure that the note is clear for other staff to read, for example. /nickserv addnote *account 1M Warned for advertising #joebloggs (owner) in #janebloggs.
