Respect the DareNET Community!

We're not asking for the kind of respect reserved for nuns, the elderly, and brain surgeons. We mean don't abuse the site/network. Every cool new community feature on DareNET involves a certain level of trust. We trust you to be responsible, and users respect that trust. Please be one of them.

Don't Cross the Line

Here are some common-sense rules that will help you steer clear of trouble:

  • No engaging in Denial of service ('DDoS') actions or abuse of our system(s) or resources.
  • No network/server/channel ban evasions.
  • No faked or altered user@host information.
  • No loading of malicious bots onto the network.
  • No creating excessive connections (clones) from your connection.
  • No flooding of any kind.
  • No spamming.

NOTE: You may only advertise in channels where you are on the userlist or with the channel owner's explicit permission. Directly advertising to DareNET users in other channels or via private messages / notice is strictly prohibited.

DareNET staff will interpret this AUP if there is any ambiguity as to how it applies to your circumstance or situation.

We Enforce This AUP

Okay, this one is more about us than you. DareNET staff review all abuse reports 24 hours a day, seven days a week to determine whether our AUP was violated. Accounts are penalized for AUP violations and serious or repeated violations can result in loss of services privileges, network bans, account suspension and even termination.

DareNET is under no circumstances to be used for illegal activities. Observed and verifiable instances may be reported to the appropriate authorities. And, although DareNET itself is an unmoderated forum, DareNET's administration will cooperate fully with any officially recognized law enforcement agency to the best of its capability when required to do so by law.

DareNET is Your Community

Remember that this is your community! Each and every user of DareNET makes the network what it is, so don't be afraid to dig in and get involved. Have fun with the site and network.

You may not like everything you see. Some of the content here may offend you—if you find that it violates our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), then join #Support and let a staff member know or e-mail abuse@darenet.org, then consider placing the user on ignore or joining another channel—why waste time on something you don't like?
