So, you want to register a channel (chat room) here on DareNET? Great! All registered channels get ChanServ, our channel services bot, which provides a number of both useful and powerful features to aide channel owner's in maintaining and protecting their channel.

Just about any channel may be registered; however, we specifically disallow registering the following types of channels:

  • Channels that violate our Acceptable Use Policy (AUP), or other network policies;
  • File trading / warez channels;
  • and, obviously, channels that encourage illegal activity.

Channels found to be violating these rules will have ChanServ removed from the channel permanently.

DareNET Staff Involvement

Our staff are not permitted to get involved in channel-related matters. Such requests will be politely denied. Channel owners are free to manage their channels as they please, provided they do not violate our AUP or the guidelines stated above. If you have a problem with the way a channel is being operated, we ask that you contact one of the channel's operators to resolve the matter. You can find out who the owner is for a particular channel by using ChanServ's INFO command.

Note, registration does not imply endoresement of a channel by DareNET.

Registering Your Channel

Please note, you must have a registered DareNET account before you may register a channel. If you do not have an account, you may register one by going here.

Once you are ready to register your channel, simply use the following command:

/msg ChanServ REGISTER #your-channel

You will be prompted by ChanServ to provide back a confirmation code. Once you have done so, you'll be granted ownership of your newly registered channel!

Example:

You: /msg ChanServ REGISTER #darenet
-ChanServ- To complete registration, use /msg ChanServ REGISTER #darenet 27ce108a
-ChanServ- By registering #darenet, you agree to abide by our channel registration guidelines,
-ChanServ- which can be found at http://www.darenet.org/channel_registration
You: /msg ChanServ REGISTER #darenet 27ce108a
-ChanServ- You now have ownership of #darenet.
