The current logging infrastructure, although lightyears better than what IRCu started off with, still has some significant problems. For instance, it is difficult to configure logs for multiple systems. Another shortcoming is that any given log message may only be sent to one file, and/or syslog, and/or one server notice class. I think these can be corrected, and I am currently working on an external library, based on (but very different from) log4j, that will provide improved flexibility.
